My name is Jamie Coar, I am 24 years old and reside in the small town of Harbert. I am very thankful and honored to be a recipient of The Pokagon Fund Adult Scholarship!
I proudly graduated from Ferris State University in May of 2015 with a Bachelor of Science in Health Information Management, a minor in Health, Illness, and Society, and an Associate of Applied Science in Health Information Technology. After graduation I studied extensively for the Registered Health Information Administrator exam, in which I successfully passed!
In January of 2017, I began my dream of pursing a Master of Science degree in Healthcare Administration at Ferris State University. I am determined to make an impact in healthcare and I want to have as much knowledge as possible to make a difference. A Master’s Degree in Healthcare Administration will allow me to help my community by enhancing the business side of medicine and will give me a solid foundation that I need to pursue a fulfilling career.
Besides maintaining a 4.0 grade point average, I am also involved in volunteering for numerous organizations. Volunteer work has always been close to my heart- it is a value that is instilled in my family. Through countless years of giving back to my community I have become aware of the benefits, rewards, and effects volunteering can have. While at Ferris State University, I participated in the Big Event, Colleges Against Cancer, and tutoring undergraduate students in Health Information Management. Also, during the holiday season I continue to collect and donate to Toys for Tots.
Receiving The Pokagon Fund Adult Scholarship has helped make my dream a reality by covering a large portion of my tuition! Thanks to the generosity of The Pokagon Fund, I am one step closer to graduation!
