A MESSAGE FROM ROB GOW

The successful implementation of The Pokagon Fund’s mission to improve the lives of the people in the communities it serves has always been, and will always be, dependent on the successes of its many grantees. During the decade since the Fund awarded its first grant to Radio Harbor Country in 2007, the nine municipalities within Harbor Country┬« and over 300 non-profit charitable organizations and scholarship recipients have used grants exceeding $22 million to enliven community vitality, enhance education and enrich the lives of those
in need.

The transformation of the Harbor Country landscape through conservation efforts supported by the Fund has been significant. The growth and improvement in the park systems has been phenomenal. The availability of the latest technologies to the school districts awarded grants has equaled the playing field for their students. Support for the arts, athletic programs, seniors, mobile food pantries, educational bus trips and numerous other programs have improved the quality of life of those served.

These successes are a cause for Celebrating a Decade of Partnerships. This 2017 Annual Report, coupled with an extended campaign during the 2017-2018 fiscal year and beyond, will focus on many of the individual grantees whose work exemplifies the impact of the funds donated by the Pokagon Band of Potawatomi. This generous philanthropic support provided through the Four Winds Casino Resort has been well-utilized to advance the lives of the people served in Harbor Country as well as the communities surrounding the Pokagon Band trust land consolidation sites in Hartford and Dowagiac,
Michigan and South Bend, Indiana.
